On our 812 we have an oil leak. It looks like it is coming out from where the forward clutch shaft is. Do you have to tear apart the trans to replace the seal, or do you just have to remover trhe clucth assembly? Thank You!

OK. Now we have a problem. I was mowing today and all of a sudden, the tractor stopped moving foward. It will backup, but not go foward. I think that the foward clutch hub is not moving with the foward clutch shaft. Is there a key that locks the hub to the shaft? And I guess the trans will have to be taken out and taken completely apart? Am I right on that? Thank you in advance.

you may want to look on ebay for a spare / good trans. I bought a spare for mine when i found one close to me on ebay for like $25 with good PTO clutch and hydro gear. so you might want to look that route, just a thought.

The plate spins a little, but you can stop it and hold it with your hand. So I am guessing that the key is sheared or the small gear inside broke. Will start tearing it down tomorrow.

UPDATE!!!! It was a hub key wore off. I was working on it today. I put it in forward and watched things, the left axle shaft was turning, but the hub was not moving. It needs new hubs, but they will have to wait.
