Was mowing with Gravely 8123 (rear engine), when I noticed a difference in the running. Drive shaft rotation slowed down, and some smoke came out from underneath. Now when engaging blade the draft shaft turns real slow. Could this be low tranny oil?..and if so, where do i check the tranny oil level? Does it take regular mmotor oil, or tranny fluid?

I doubt low oil would cause this issue. To check the oil there is a pipe plug in a right angle elbow on the side of the transmission (left as viewed from the rear if memory serves). Pull the plug out and fill it with tranny fluid until it runs out. The first thing i would check is if, when the deck is engaged, will the tractor still move (do this quickly as your are possibly slipping the pto clutch). If the tractor won't move then you know you have either a broken key on the engine shaft or stripped gears on engine shaft gear and/or adjoining upper pto shaft. If it will move i would go on to disconnect the pto shaft (there is a collar on upper pto shaft, pull it away from the transmission and pull the shaft off {just like an air hose quick connect}). Reach up under the deck and turn the blades to see if they turn freely, check if turning one blade causes the other blades and drive shaft to turn. if they don't turn freely then you know the problem is in the deck. if everything checks out on the deck then the problem is in the transmission (can't say exactly what but it is somewhere between the pto clutch and the output shaft).
